Tether Tools, as the name suggests, offers solutions for 'tethered shooting'. But what exactly is that? It simply means you see the photos you take directly on a display. What do you need for a 'tethered' shoot?

To get started with tethered shooting you need the following: a camera to shoot with, a computer with a USB(C) cable to transfer the photos to, and software that supports tethered shooting.

A great addition is what's known as a jerkstopper. This small accessory prevents you from accidentally pulling the cable loose and damaging your camera.

USB(C) cable

Can I use any USB(C) cable to create a tethered connection? In principle, yes – but we don't recommend it. Simply because of the large files (RAW) you'll be transferring to the computer. With a standard USB(C) cable that can take minutes per transfer, while a dedicated tethering USB cable only needs seconds. That way you can keep shooting non-stop.

But speed isn't the only benefit; a tethered cable has more advantages. A bright colour and a longer cable give you more flexibility.

On top of that, a tethered cable is also better shielded than a standard cable. You get a more reliable and stable transfer.
