What is an analog camera?

The analog camera is the classic way of taking photos: the images are captured using a film roll or direct print. For more than a hundred years, this was the way to photograph, before digital photography became increasingly popular in the late nineties.

The effects such as hazy and soft images, blurred and overexposed images make analog photography the way to be very conscious when taking photos. In addition, you only have a limited storage capacity on a film roll and you will therefore think longer about whether a certain location is worth capturing. Analog photos are also known for their richness of colours. Waiting for the final result by the roll of photo that needs to be developed is an event that many people enjoy. This is mainly because the work that has gone into it will finally come to you and the memory will stay with you longer.

In the current market of analog photography, it is in particular the brand Lomography which dominates. It is important to know what kind of film roll the camera supports and whether it is a film camera or an instant camera. Medium format photography is most popular with this type of camera, a negative with about 3 times the size of the film rolls of the past.
