Adox CHS 100 II 35mm Film 135/36
Adox CHS 100 II 35mm Film 135/36 produces delicate, soft, airy images with open shadows, creamy highlights and a smooth tonal transition. The orthopanchromatic emulsion has a reduced red sensitivity and a curve difference between blue and green, resulting in deeper skies with striking clouds and balanced tonal reproduction in portraits. In addition to the classic grain, CHS 100 II is perfect for fine art photography and delivers a genuine film look from the 1960s.
This film consists of two emulsions coated in a single layer on an archival-clear PET base of 100 microns, resulting in a very wide exposure latitude. CHS 100 II responds very well to pull and push processing.
In 35mm format, Adox CHS 100 II features two anti-halation layers (between the emulsion and the base, and on the reverse side), making it extremely sharp. The anti-halation layer on the reverse side also reduces curl and the light-piping effect. This effect of light penetrating through the base into the cartridge is inherent to all polyester-based films and cannot be entirely prevented. CHS 100 II must be protected from bright light, as this can fog the first few frames. It is best to load it in the shade or in subdued light.
The sharpness and contrast of CHS 100 II can be managed with various developers: velvety-soft results in Atomal, balanced contrast and optimal sharpness in FX-39 II, and increased contrast with extra high definition in Adonal/Rodinal. Tanning developers are not recommended.
