The Kowa Spotting Scope TSN-88A Prominar with TE-11WZ II WA eyepiece is the improved successor to the Kowa TSN-883, which has been a leading model in the field of spotting scopes since 2006. Kowa has equipped the lenses and prism of the TSN-88A with new and improved coatings, allowing Kowa to achieve an even higher light transmission. The result is a spotting scope that delivers even higher levels of light wavelength transmission than its predecessor, whilst also providing the most natural colours across the entire colour spectrum.
In addition, with the TSN-88A Prominar you benefit from a 100% magnesium alloy construction, making it not only stronger but also lighter than its predecessor. The TSN-88A is easy to carry and features a fully waterproof, nitrogen-filled housing. An upgrade to the Kowa KR coating on the optics makes the scope incredibly reliable and robust.
Just like the TSN-883, the body is fitted with a large 88mm pure fluorite crystal objective lens which, in combination with a Kowa XD lens, delivers superior performance in low light. This special combination, plus the improved optical coatings, virtually eliminates all chromatic aberration, even at high magnification. Thanks to the TSN-88A's dual focusing mechanism, the image can be focused quickly and precisely with just your index finger — in just a few smooth rotations. The fine focusing mechanism provides the final control for a razor-sharp view.
Kowa TE-11WZ II WA eyepiece
This kit comes with the Kowa TE-11WZ II wide-angle eyepiece. This eyepiece has a magnification of 25x–60x and features two XD lenses, delivering images with outstanding sharpness. The eyepiece is fully waterproof and equipped with a twist-up eyecup with three positions, allowing the eye relief to be adjusted. This ensures a comfortable viewing experience for both spectacle wearers and non-spectacle wearers alike.
Chromatic aberration occurs due to the dispersion of light and the different wavelengths of light concentrating at different positions, which can result in a red or purple fringe around the subject. The optimal optical material for minimising chromatic aberration is fluorite crystal. An extremely low-dispersion fluorite crystal is used for the convex lens of the TSN-88A/88S. Rather than a conventional optical glass lens, the concave lens — in combination with the fluorite crystal lens — is made from glass with special dispersive properties, further reducing chromatic aberration. This combination virtually eliminates chromatic aberration entirely and redefines the standards for colour brilliance.
