In addition, the extreme aperture provides breathtaking control over depth of field. The advanced optical construction consists of 11 elements in 8 groups. A double-sided aspherical element minimizes distortion and improves sharpness across the entire frame. Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements effectively correct chromatic aberrations, ensuring accurate colors and clarity. The eight high-refractive elements keep the lens sharp even wide open, including in the corners. This optical configuration delivers outstanding image quality comparable to many more expensive alternatives.
Weighing 687 grams and measuring Ø74 x 72 millimeters, this lens is substantial yet still portable for daily use on a Leica M camera. The fully metal construction exudes quality and durability. Please note: this lens includes a calibration set (screwdriver and card) that allows you to adjust the rangefinder coupling yourself. For digital Leica M cameras with EVF this is straightforward; for analog cameras it requires a bit more work. A lens hood is not included.
