The polarising filter is made from extra-hardened glass, giving it four times the tensile strength of traditional filters. The filter has been specially designed for today's digital market, where sensors are more sensitive to reflected light than in the analogue era. The Hoya HDX filter features special coatings on both sides that reduce internal reflections and filter UV haze, delivering a more saturated and sharper image. The 8-layer multi-coating on both sides of this polarising filter ensures maximum optical performance and a light transmission of no less than 99.4% — a remarkable 25% more light transmission than regular polarising filters. This multi-layer coating also makes the filter water-, dirt-, and scratch-resistant, making it more pleasant to use and longer lasting.

The mount is made from highly durable black anodised aluminium, which fully seals the filter glass, preventing moisture and light from entering where they shouldn't. The mount is also extra slim, so you won't experience any vignetting — which is a common issue with many cheaper filters.
